On September 15, 2016, Lorain resident Trooper Kenneth Velez , a 27 year veteran of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Cleveland Post #18, was killed outside his patrol car in the line of duty after being struck by a vehicle while conducting traffic enforcement on Interstate 90 in Cleveland, Ohio.  Trooper Velez was just days away from retirement. He is survived by his three children Devin, Andria & Christian.

Kenny's children have decided to pay it forward to this amazing community for all of the support, thoughts and prayers provided to them since the incident.  All proceeds from the dinner, golf outing, and raffles will be used to provide scholarships for area students.  In 2018 a total of $8K  was awarded to Lorain county high school graduating students to help support them in continuing their educational goals. In addition, $10K awarded to students of the class of  2019, $11K awarded to the classes of 2021 & 2022, and $14K awarded to the class of 2023. Join us in paying it forward!
